Getting new clothes is fun, until you have to wash them. Some need certain heat levels, others will wrinkle if you even dare to look at them wrong. Getting a wardrobe that’s also simple to wash can be a fun and refreshing challenge! At Monster Laundry, we experience a ton of different laundry on a daily basis, and we know a thing or two about what kind of garments play nice with the machines.
But first off, let’s get a baseline…
What Are Some Qualities that Make a Fabric “Laundry-Friendly”?
Can easily for multiple cycles.
Won’t shrink or warp.
Resists wrinkling.
Retains color.
Requires less “Special Care”.
With that in Mind, here are a few of our recommended fabric types:
Cotton: breathable, soft and durable. But pure cotton can shrink so be sure to prioritize cotton blends.
Denim: A modern classic, and built for the modern age, they are durable and meant to last, with one of the only downsides being they tend to be a little more bulky, so it’ll take up a lot of room in the washing machine.
Polyester: These fabrics are the bee’s knees when it comes to laundry friendly fabrics. Commonly in activewear, they are efficient in all categories.
Fabrics to absolutely avoid if you want a simple laundry routine:
Wool & cashmere: requires special detergents and extra care when drying.
Silk: can easily lose its sheen if washed improperly.
Velvet: texture and quality can degrade far too quickly.
