Give Clothes and Bedding a Shake Down Before Washing.
The more pet hair you remove before laundry, the better.
Rough them up! Give blankets and towels a shake outdoors.
Use a lint roller, or a damp sponge to catch stubborn hair.
If you toss items in the dryer first, on a no heat setting for 10 minutes, this can loosen up hair and make it easier to remove.
Use the Right Detergent
Pet Odors can be especially invasive on bedding or towels.
Wash these items separately from your own clothes.
Skip the fabric softener, they can lock in the odor and make fabrics less breathable.
Use a detergent meant for sensitive skin.
The Hotter the Better!
Warm and hot water helps break down oils from fur and skin that can trap odor.
For items that can handle it, like pet bedding, use a warm cycle and a longer wash time.
This does not apply for delicate pet items, such as soft toys and sweaters, be sure to use a cold cycle to prevent shrinkage.
