It may seem like a no brainer to “do the laundry in-house”, but many small business don't consider the hidden costs to doing so, things such as labor and equipment costs, inefficient time investments and other pitfalls can quickly outweigh the perceived benefits.

1.  The unexpected costs of laundry labor.

Having your employees spend time and effort on in-house laundry means they aren’t focused on tasks that generate revenue for your business.  Even though it may not seem like a lot of time each day, those labor costs add up throughout the week.

2.  Equipment, utilities and maintenance may drain your budget.

Just the utility costs of water, electricity and gas alone can cut a chunk of your budget out.  If Laundry is not something your business specializes in, it’s a guarantee that the machines probably aren’t up to par.  Regular maintenance, repairs and even replacement of machines can cause unnecessary stress and strain to not only your budget, but your well being.

3. Quality, space and risks to customer perception.

Good laundry machines are not small.  They can take up a lot of space, and can be unappealing if they are visible to a customer base.  Along with the fact that it will be occupying space for something that can be used to generate revenue instead, such as a prep area or a service counter.  Not to mention the fact that an inefficient machine may not wash clothes properly, leading to potential risks in presentation, or even health and safety.

DIY laundry may appear to save some upfront costs, but using a professional laundry service such as Monster Laundry can really make a difference in preventing those hidden issues.
