You’ve just got done sorting your laundry, you’ve separated your darks and your lights, your heavy and thin; but something you may have overlooked is how fabric types react to each other in the wash. The results can be disastrous, faster wear and tears, color bleeding, and many more issues.
Microfibers + Towels = Lint Nightmare
Towels, especially cotton ones, shed a ton of lint, and garments made of microfibers trap said lint in like a magnet. At the end of the day, those high-performance microfibers will end up being gunked up with lint and debris and ultimately becoming less effective. The solution? Wash microfibers alone, with other synthetic fabrics to maintain their integrity.
Denim + Lightweight linens = Fabric Friction Fumble
Lightweight linens like shirts and napkins can get absolutely thrashed in the wash with abrasive and bulky heavy denim items. The delicate fibers will eventually break down, and tear at the seams when this ill fated combination occurs. To avoid this: be sure to wash denim with other heavyweight items only and air drying linens is usually the safest bet for those delicate fabrics.
Activewear + Cotton = Monstrously Musty Smells
Here at Monster Laundry, we obviously love our monsters, but your laundry should never smell like one. It’s only natural for sweat and odors to pass onto your activewear after a good workout, and putting them in the wash with absorbing cotton is just a recipe for disaster. Be sure to wash your activewear separately to ensure everything ends up smelling nice.
